The big question  Thirst for knowledge  "I have a question"
INQUEST

SIGNS       HOUSES        PLANETS

PLEASE NOTE ...

Warning

(Some of the topics discussed here are quite involved)

Ques. What are the different astrological remedies?
Ans. Remedy is generally suggested for a planet which is currently influencing the person by virtue of its Ruling Period (Dasha) or Transit (Gochar); the planet has to be either (1) inherently beneficial in nature but weak in an individual's chart, or (2) inherently malefic in nature and quite strong and capable of causing harm. That is, it is either not able to give good results to its full capacity, or is giving tremendously bad results, which have to be curbed.
If that planet is situated in an earthy sign (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) in the person's birth-chart, a gemstone is suggested,
If that planet is situated in a fiery sign (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) in the person's birth-chart, a yagna (ritual in front of the fire) should be performed.
If that planet is situated in an airy sign (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) in the person's birth-chart, reciting of prayers (mantra) is suggested.
If that planet is situated in a watery sign (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) in the person's birth-chart, then donating food & money to the poor & throwing coins into the holy river helps.

Of course these are all mentioned in the ancient Holy Books & some of them are 2000 years old.

Ques. What are the different astrological gemstone remedies?
Ans. The suggested remedies are:

GEMSTONES

Ruby for Sun
Pearl for Moon
Coral for Mars
Emerald for Mercury
Yellow Sapphire for Jupiter
Diamond for Venus
Blue Sapphire for Saturn
Hessonite for Rahu (the ascending node of the Moon)
Cat's eye for Ketu (the descending node of the Moon)

Ques. Why do predictions sometimes turn out to be different ?
Ans. Unlike Biology, Physics or Chemistry - Astrology is an empirical science; which means the rules are based on statistics (past performance). Furthermore, an ignorant practitioner may be following the rules, word for word, as mentioned in ancient text books without any consideration for their accuracy and relevance in the modern day 21st. century world.

Ques. Should we rely on current ruling periods (Dasha) or current transits in the sky (Gochar) ? If Dasha is good and Gochar is bad then what will be the result?
Ans. Astrologers say Dasha (Ruling Period) is very important & influences the person 75% - while the current transits have only 25% influence.

Ques. Many exalted planets have been found in the horoscope of a not-so-rich person while numerous fallen planets are present in a wealthy man's chart, why is that so ?
Ans. Normally many debilitated planets in a horoscope undergo "Neech Bhanga Raj Yoga" (cancellation of Debilitated state) and similarly many exalted planets undergo "Uccha Bhang Daridra Yoga" (cancellation of Exalted state leading to poverty). It may be assumed that a person with too many exalted planets is a man of strict morals & principles - so rigid that he is unfit for worldy success. One or two debilitated planets does help us mere mortals make money in this murky world !!!

Ques. Let's say there's a train derailment or a plane crash & everyone on board dies, was death indicated in the horoscope of every single passenger ?
Ans. The horoscope of the vehicle (taking into account the precise time it's manufacture/ assembly was completed) in which the passengers were travelling takes precedence over all the individual horoscopes of the passengers.

Ques. What is "Kuja Dosh" ?
Ans. In India where arranged marriages are still quite popular, this planetary alignment is given quite an importance. Mars in one's 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house indicates a troubled marriage. This is called Kuja Dosh (or "The Affliction of Mars"). So before marriage, the horoscopes of the groom and the bride to be are examined and matched for lifelong compatibility, and if one has Kuja Dosh, then that might somewhat be mitigated if he/she marries a person with an identical affliction (Kuja Dosh) - sort of "killing fire with fire". Believe it or not weekend editions of newspapers run a whole section of matrimonial classifieds based solely on Kuja Dosh !!!  As a final note: the divorce rate in India is below 3% !!!
