Ketu (Moon's South Node)
|
| Ketu, the South
Node of the Moon means a "sign" or "banner" in Sanskrit, the ancient
language of the Indian sub-continent. If Rahu, the North Node of the Moon is the planet of
worldly desires, then Ketu - the Moon's South Node signifies a detachment from the
material world. Ketu represents spirituality. Ketu is considered to be harmful in terms of
material gains but in doing so it awakens one's senses towards the real meaning of life
& imparts a sense of spirituality in a person. It causes sorrow and loss of material
properties, which ultimately, in a bizarre way, turns the individual closer to God. Ketu is an indicator of final liberation, the
ultimate wisdom, non-attachment, penetrating insight, fantasy, derangement, carrier of
arms and weapons, invisibility and physic abilities. Ketu is said to be blind, so during
Ketu's ruling period some individuals may experience eye-troubles. Ketu has the amazing
power to remain invisible - so people under the strong influence of Ketu are 'publicity
shunning', 'low-profile-maintaining' deeply spiritual persons. People who are introverted,
and in extreme cases, recluse - are under the strong influence of Ketu.
Ketu attains full maturity at a late
age of 48; generally at this age people have experienced all the benefits of materialism
and some have realized its emptiness. This is when the soul turns towards the pursuit of
final liberation from this material world.
A final note for the believers: To
strengthen one's Ketu if it is afflicted - the recommended gemstone is "Cat's Eye" or "Chrysoberyl". |
