A child born in the Year of the Rat

(Also: Read about the grown-up Rat )

Rat

A child born in the year of the Rat will be outwardly shy, sweet and loving. But that belies the amount of fire in his belly, he is extremely ambitious. As a child he will talk earlier than most and will scream and cry to get his parent’s attention – but at the same time he’ll be very close to and possessive of them. Being affectionate and demonstrative, he will not like being left alone. He will be fond of good food and will take an early interest in cooking and other household chores. As a parent you can be rest assured he will keep his room clean and he knows exactly where his things are. If you try to give away his old toys behind his back, then he’ll soon find out and raise hell. Sharing the breakfast table with his older sibling, he will demand equal if not greater share of the food. The lively Rat-Child will be a bookworm (just like a Rooster Child), many of the world's greatest writers and historians were born in the year of the Rat.
